How Fuerteventura Became My Unexpected Work & Surf Haven
Since I can work from anywhere, I decided to visit my friend Betta in Fuerteventura. My plan was simple: enjoy a change of scenery, soak in the island’s eternal spring weather, and surf with her during our free time.
Betta, who likes to describe herself as a “wild stylist and free surfer,” generously offered me her place to stay, even though she’d be traveling. So, I booked my flight to Fuerteventura, ready for a relaxed getaway. Then, just a few days later, the universe sent me a sign—through a friend of a friend, I was asked to manage the communications for a brand-new co-working space on the island.
Message received, universe: this is exactly where I’m meant to be right now.
Of course I start to work remotely on the Cocoworking project putting all my enthusiasm and passion and finding immediately a good feeling with Matteo, the founder of the project.
I also got involved with the organization of the pre-opening party, which was meant to give people a taste of this incredible new space. The event was planned for just a few days after my arrival, and it was the perfect “warm-up” for what was to come.
For me, Coco has been more than just a co-working space.
Since the moment I landed in Fuerteventura, it’s felt like my second home. Nestled in Cotillo, on the island’s northeast coast, it’s not only a beautiful and comfortable place to work—it’s a community and a space where inspiration flows as freely as the ocean waves.
